Toddler Skirt {Free Crochet Pattern}

I had been wanting to make a skirt for my daughter for quite some time when I made this. She was wearing a size 2T at the time, and this skirt was a bit roomy for her. I, later, added belt loops and a cute little Tunisian stitch belt to match.

I used a 100% cotton worsted weight yarn in denim blue with a subtle lavender accent. I think the effect is quite nice. You can, of course, use any color you wish. I think an applique would make a pretty addition, as well.
You can certainly make the skirt longer, just by following the same increase pattern. I'll bet it would even make a cute poodle skirt!

Toddler Skirt
(Approx. size: 3T)

Supplies:
Size H crochet hook
Cotton worsted weight yarn in color of your choice (Approx. 7oz. Denim-color A, and approx 1 oz. of Lavender- color B.)

Pattern:
For the band:
With color A, Ch 10
Row 1: Hdc in second ch from hook, and in each across. Turn. (8)
Rows 2-47: Ch 2, hdc through BL (through the back loop only) of each st across. Turn. (8)
Join the seam:
Bring up the bottom end and match it up to the last row, being careful not to twist it. Join with a slip stitch to the back side of the foundation chain. Slip stitch through the back loop only and the back side of the foundation chain, across. (this "sews" the seam and the band should be completely formed). (8)
Do not finish off.

Body of the skirt:
Turn the work to the side so that you are working along the edge. This will be the body of the skirt.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc 48 evenly around the entire band. Join to first sc with slip stitch. (48)
Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in the same stitch as join, and in the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. *Hdc 5, 2 hdc in the next st* repeat from *to* around. Join with slip stitch. (56)

    1. Hi! Sorry. I do not have larger sizes worked up. You can make it bigger by adding more rows to the band, and adding more stitches in round 1 of the skirt body. Continue with the increase, as you work the rounds, and make it as long as you wish. I hope that helps.

    1. Hi! I would start by adjusting the number of rows in the band to fit around her, making it so that when you work the body, your number of stitches are a multiple of 8. If you can't get that number to fit right, then maybe go up a hook size.
Next, you can adjust the number of rounds for the skirt to make it the right length.
      Hope this helps! Good luck!
