Crochet for Valley Children's NICU

Note: This is not a sponsored post.

I have spent a good amount of time during the past couple of weeks designing and crocheting tiny headbands, tiaras, and hats for the premature babies who are spending their first days, weeks, and even months in the Valley Children's NICU.

My sister-in-law is one of the dedicated medical professionals who help to care for the babies in the NICU at Valley Children's. I was showing her my Pattern Gallery, and she mentioned that the moms are often looking to buy cute little headbands for their baby girls.
Being the mother of 7, two of whom were late-term preemies, I knew right away that I wanted to crochet some special gifts for the tiny NICU residents. I got to work soon after, and came up with these little gems.

Crochet, Charity, Crochet for Charity, Crochet for Preemies, Preemies, Valley Children's Hospital, Valley Children's NICU, NICU Babies, Crochet for NICU Babies, Valley Children's George the Giraffe,
In addition to the hats, headbands, and tiaras, I am sending a couple of fun stethoscope cozies. One is the sunflower, and the other is my version of George the Giraffe, Valley Children's beloved mascot.

I encourage you to join me in charitable donations to Valley Children's. (If you are not a crocheter, but would still like to donate, you can learn about other ways to help HERE.) To get you started, throughout the next few weeks, I will be sharing my free patterns for preemie hats, headbands, and tiaras. I will also share my stethoscope cozy pattern and patterns for the appliques and flowers. Please come back often to see when the new patterns are shared, or you can stay informed via Oui Crochet's Facebook Page or Twitter.

Something to remember: It is important that hand crafted NICU  donations be made/stored in a pet free, smoke free home/environment, and that all materials are kept clean and germ-free. Also, I like to use natural fibers (such as 100% cotton, so that it is more gentle for Baby's skin, and easy to wash.

Please visit my Pattern Gallery for more newborn crochet patterns.
You may also find my printable Hat and Headband Size Chart helpful. It includes preemie sizes.

Thank you to Valley Children's NICU staff for your care and dedication!

Happy Crocheting!
