Who doesn't love Olaf from Disney's Frozen?
It is pretty safe to say that my 2 year old is obsessed with the fun loving character that she affectionately refers to as "Happy Snowman".
In preparation for her second birthday, I knew that I needed to make a cute, cuddly, crochet Olaf for her. A quick Google search turned up and awesome pattern by One Dog Woof. This pattern is very well written. It is easy to follow, and includes some great photos! I encourage you to check out some of the other great crochet patterns that One Dog Woof has to offer.
Olaf took me a few days to make, as I didn't have much time to sit and work on it all the way through.
Here is my finished product:
For my Olaf, I made a couple of small modifications to the original pattern. First, I used 100% cotton yarn. I love cotton yarn, and I try to always use it for amigurumi crochet. I feel that it holds its shape better than an acrylic yarn. It also washes up well... did I mention it is for my 2 year old?
The second modification I made was the eyes. I didn't have 9mm black safety eyes on hand. I had 12mm brown and black eyes. I used those. Because they are larger, I simply repeated row 19 of the head pattern, to compensate. I made everything else as written. I am very pleased with the result, and I am sure my daughter will love her Happy Snowman!
